U18 Four Nations Tournament (Nov. 2005) - Russian Player Performance Evaluations Part 4: Pavel Doronin, Valery Zhukov, Vasily Vinogradov

2006 U18 4 Nations Tournament (88 born)U18 Four Nations Tournament (Nov. 10th - Nov. 12th; Slovakia)
Russian Player Pefromance Evaluations Part 4: Pavel Doronin, Valery Zhukov, Vasily Vinogradov

Pavel Doronin, D (2006 NHL Entry Draft Eligible)

Registered an average showing in the opening game against Germany .. lost his temper after Vasily Vinogradov stepped down with an injury and tried to hit everything what moved which negatively effected his defensive reliability .. showed a slight progress in the ability to quarterback power play units .. his solid skating skills were visible in the second game against Czech Republic just like his tendency to make erratic passed when pressed by an opponent .. played a rollercoaster game .. used also as a power play point man but his shots only hardly got through .. virtually a non-factor during the third game against Slovakia .. his mean streak was hidden and he couldn't make use of his mobility to be effective in the game.

Valery Zhukov, D (2006 NHL Entry Draft Eligible)
Played an average defensively-minded showing in the opening game against Germany .. showed only occasional offensive raids and proved that he doesn't have the needed skating skills to develop into a two-way force .. wasn't guilty of many defensive gaffes and held his own adequately well .. displayed his strongest offensive asset, an accurate shot from the point, numerous times during the second game against the Czech Republic .. useful as a power play point man .. showed only limited reliability in the defensive zone as he couldn't read the developing plays properly .. faded for most of the third game against Slovakia and kept his shot from the point hidden .. should become a more physically intimidating presence in his own end .. didn't accomplish much at the tournament.

Vasily Vinogradov, D (2006 NHL Entry Draft Eligible)
Distributed regular long outlet passes during the first game against Germany .. served as an offensive defenseman .. late in the first period victim of a hard open-ice hit from the German Marcel Muller which sidelined him for the remainder of the game and the second contest against Czech Republic .. returned to the lineup for the third game against Slovakia .. filled a two-way role .. could take advantage of his okay skating skills to support the offense .. wasn't a noticeable factor on power plays .. showed some intangibles, but further viewings are needed to justify pro potential.
