Game Notes: Russia won a close contest against Finland, taking a seeming insurmountable 4:1 lead into the third period. The Finns two quick tallies early in the third period, both of them not really Vasily Koshechkin (Tampa Bay Lightning)'s fault, though on at least one of the goals he was out of position on a quick one timer and did not move laterally fast enough to stop the puck. Fortunately, then Petr Schastlivy (Phoenix Coyotes) scored on a nice feed from Denis Grebeshkov (New York Islanders) with a precise wrist shot while Norrena was screened by a defenseman. Even though the Finns scored again with six minutes left, Russia closed the gates for the rest of the period and had a couple of great scoring chance to extend the lead, not allowing Norrena to empty the net for a sixth forward.
