03/23/2009 Dynamo beats Kazan to even the series 2:2

Continental Hockey League (KHL) -  It was clear that Dynamo soundly beat Ak Bars after just two periods of action when the two teams went into the locker rooms for the second break with the Moscow club leading 4:1. Eric Landry scored two of the tallies, while Denis Denisov (Buffalo Sabres) and Kalyuzhni netted one each. Oleg Petrov scored the lonely goal for Ak Bars early on, but the game was never really close. Dynamo dominated the action and had plenty of chances to widen the lead if not for the play of back up Stanislav Galimov during the latter half of the game after he replaced Finnish netminder Norrena in net. The third period took an ugly turn when it became clear that Dynamo was the victor, as Ak Bars players begun to take runs and play more physically. An ugly incident broke out when Nikita Alexeev (Chicago Blackhawks) fought Daniil Markov , as it was especially unpleasant since Alexeev started the fight with Markovís back to him, as Markov was trying to settle things with another Kazan player Obukhov first. Markov still got the better of Alexeev, though it was impressive for the lanky former NHL forward to even try to go at Dynamo captain and former NHL hard nosed defenseman. Another scare happened even later in the game when a Kazan forward drove to the net and then went practically skates first into Vitali Eremeev, though fortunately no one was hurt. Denis Denisov (Buffalo Sabres) was also hit in the boards in the last minutes and had to be escorted to the locker room, though he appears to be ok as well. Now the series are tied 2:2 in the best of seven series, and the next game will take place in Kazan on Wednesday.
03/17/2008 Nikita Alexeev (Chicago Blackhawks)ís playoffs ends early with injury

Super League -  Former NHLer and Ak Bars forward Nikita Alexeev (Chicago Blackhawks) suffered a serious foot injury after taking a slap shot to his right foot and breaking it. The young forward has had a sub-par season with Ak Bars in a limited role, but did add a package of size and some skill to the clubís roster. Repotedly he will need at least two months to recover from the injury.

Scouting Evaluations:
KHL Eight Round: prospects report from Ak Bars vs. Magnitogorsk
Talent Analysis:
Nikita Alexeev has transformed himself from a skinny talented player to a hulking 6’5 and 225 power forward, now with a lot of confidence to complement his great talent and speed. Alexeev is surprisingly quick for his size and is a solid puckhandler.
Back In Russia:
Nikita Alexeev started his professional career in the farm system of the Soviet Wings in Moscow, playing with the team from 1996-1998. Nikita Alexeev also played for the gold medal 1996-97 Russian Junior National Team. Nikita did not stick around Russia for too long, leaving for the OHL in Canada after only a single season with the Soviet Wings-2 farm team.

OHL
In Canada Nikita got an instant exposure to the North American style hockey. Nikita Alexeev was not a sure thing off the bat. His first season with Erie, who selected him 5th overall in the 1998 CHL Entry Draft, was somewhat of a struggle due to several factors. Nikita was still getting acclimated to the different culture of North America, the English language and North American style of play. Nikita was also relatively skinny for his tall 6’5 frame. This lack of hulk made him more susceptible to being knocked off the puck and seriously eroded his confidence. However, prior to the 1999-2000 season, Nikita added 25 pounds to his skinny frame. With his improved physique came the physical game and with the physical game Nikita started gaining confident again. The stronger Nikita eliminated a strong weakness in his game
NHL Outlook:
Now fully acclimated to the North American style of play, this Russian who was already fluent in English, was bound to be one of the top picks in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. To add to his praises, Nikita was also ranked 7th in the CSB final pre-draft rankings and was a finalist in the Western Conference's Fastest Skater in the 2000 OHL Coaches Poll (later winning the Fastest Skater events in the Top Prospect skills evaluation. It did not take long as Tampa Bay drafted him 8th overall in the 2000 Entry Draft, adding him to their already deep list of young offensive players in their reserves. Some considered him a surprise pick this early in the draft, as he has not yet combined all of his abilities into a single package during the first two years with Erie. However, Nikita Alexeev is a integral part of Rick Dudley's rebuilding of the Tampa Bay Lightning. 2002-03: Nikita Alexeev has spent the majority of the season with the Tampa Lightning and has shown his versatility. Now, secured in Tampa’s lineup, Alexeev will likely take a step forward to a more prominent role next season. 2003-04: The young forward will have a break out season in 2003.
