| Konstantin Pushkarev (Dallas Stars) shines in KHL debut
Continental Hockey League (KHL) - It was just a few months ago that Konstantin Pushkarev (Dallas Stars) still seemed to have a chance at an NHL career after the Dallas Stars invited him back to camp despite him leaving the team last year to return to Russia and then failing to really make an impact with any Super League club. This looked even more grim when the Stars subsequently released Pushy and he was destined to return back to Russia to an unclear reception. Things definitely cleared up this past week when Metallurg (Magnitogorsk) signed the young forward to a two year contract and he made an instant impact in his debut, scoring two goals against Spartak (Moscow). | | 06/27/2008
| Konstantin Pushkarev (Dallas Stars) and Vadim Khomitski (Dallas Stars) receive qualifying offers
Konstantin Pushkarev (Dallas Stars) and Vadim Khomitski (Dallas Stars) received qualifying offers from the Dallas Stars today. For both players this may be one more chance to return to North America and join the Dallas Stars system. Konstantin Pushkarev (Dallas Stars) was traded to the Stars by the Kings during the 2006-07 season, but chose to leave the AHL affiliate Iowa Stars midway through the 2007-08 season, though not being able to successfully return to Russian hockey. Vadim Khomitski (Dallas Stars) signed a one-way deal last year, but chose to return to Russia after failing to make the Stars and struggling to earn a top defensive pairing spot with the Iowa Stars. The young prospect had an average season in Russia and will hopefully return to North America to finish what he started. At this point it is unclear, as he has a strong offer from HC Khimik, as the club was forced to be involved in the bidding war for the restricted agent's services with HC SKA. | | 11/13/2007

| Konstantin Pushkarev (Los Angeles Kings) assigned to Manchester
Konstantin Pushkarev (Los Angeles Kings) has been assigned to Manchester for the all-star break and will likely return to LA after. The young forward has been a pleasant surprise over the past couple of weeks as he has received significant ice time and has produced for the NHL club, despite its lackluster performance. | | 04/04/2006
| Konstantin Pushkarev (Los Angeles Kings) recalled by the Kings
Konstantin Pushkarev (Los Angeles Kings) has once again been recalled by the Kings. The young forward spent one game with the club last week and was then sent down to the AHL. He will likely skate for Los Angeles tonight against the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.

| Pushkarev (Los Angeles) and Suglobov (Toronto) sent down to the AHL
Konstantin Pushkarev (Los Angeles Kings) and Alexander Suglobov (Toronto Maple Leafs) were both sent down yesterday to the AHL by their respective NHL clubs. Pushkarev skated in just one contest for the Kings, recording an assist and logging over 9 minutes of ice time. Suglobov’s stay was a bit longer, and the young forward even started one contest on the club’s top line. For Pushkarev, this was his first experience in the NHL and he performed quite well, showing a wealth of potential. The two young players will benefit greatly from playoff experience in the AHL, as their NHL clubs are currently out of the playoffs and are struggling to keep up with the competition. | | 03/28/2006
| Konstantin Pushkarev (Los Angeles Kings) makes NHL debut!
Konstantin Pushkarev (Los Angeles Kings) made his NHL debut yesterday with the Kings against the Vancouver Canucks. He was called up by the Kings on an emergency basis to replaced the injured Roenick in the club’s lineup. The Manchester Monarchs scoring leader saw limited ice time of about 9 minutes and notching his first NHL point with a nice feed to Mark Parrish early in the game. | | 03/14/2006
| AHL clubs anounce playoff rosters, include a number of Russian prospects
The American Hockey League (AHL) clubs announced the Clear Day 22 player rosters
today the feature the only players eligible to compete for their respective clubs
for the remainder of the 2005-06 regular season and playoffs. The most notable
absence is that of Evgeni Tunik, who was left off the Bridgeport Sound Tigers
roster. He may still be eligible to skate for the Sound Tigers, as the club's
roster includes several players currently skating in the NHL, including defenseman
Denis Grebeshkov. Losing players to the NHL is one of the emergency conditions
that allows a club to field players not on the original Clear Day roster. The
Clear Day rosters included the following Russian prospects.
Albany River Rats (NHL affiliate - New Jersey Devils) - Ivan Khomutov, Alexadner
Mogilny, Krisjanis Redlihs
Bridgeport Sound Tigers (NHL affiliate - New York Islanders) - Denis Grebeshkov
Hamilton Bulldogs (NHL affiliate - Montreal Canadiens) - Andrei Kostitsyn
Houston Aeros (NHL affiliate - Minnesota Wild) - Roman Voloshenko
Lowell Monsters (NHL affiliate - Colorado Avalanche) - Vitaly Kolesnik (G)
Manchester Monarchs (NHL affiliate - Los Angeles Kings) - Konstantin Pushkarev
Peoria Rivermen (NHL affiliate - St.Louis Blues) - Timofei Shishkanov
Portland Pirates (NHL affiliate - Anaheim Mighty Ducks) - Maxim Kondratiev
Syracuse Crunch (NHL affiliate - New York Rangers) - Fedor Fedorov

| Spotlight: Konstantin Pushkarev (Los Angeles Kings) big hit in Calgary
A relatively obscure prospect prior to being selected in the second round, 40th overall by the Los Angeles Kings, Konstantin Pushkarev has made a name for himself in North America with his debut in Calgary, where he skates for the local WHL squad. The young forward has become an integral part of the squad and has come on especially strong in the second half of the season. He scored 7 of his 16 goals in the past 9 games and has 34 points (16G+18A) in 43 games thus far this season, second only to Ryan Getzlaf (22G+17A), who was the 19th overall pick in the 2003 NHL Draft. | | 12/10/2004

| Los Angeles Kings sign 2003 Draft’s second rounder Konstantin Pushkarev
Los Angeles Kings signed Konstantin Pushkarev, their 44th overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, to an entry level three year deal. Pushkarev signed with Avangard Omsk before the draft and spent most of the 2003-04 season with the club’s junior farm team, Avangard VDV. The Kings have assigned the young forward to the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s Calgary Hitmen for the 2004-05 season. | | 02/21/2004
| Konstantin Pushkarev (Los Angeles Kings) post injury update
Konstantin Pushkarev (Los Angeles Kings) returned from knee surgery approximately a month ago. The knee injury was not very serious and required only minor surgery and rehabilitation time. However, he is not cracking through Avangard's lineup, instead playing for the club's junior farm team. The club has a hefty task in front of them to win medals and is depending on its veterans to do so. This is quite common, as the club has a couple of locally raised players to fill in the U20 Super League requirement, leaving Pushkarev to play on the second squad. Other local guys, including last year’s draftee Topol and Chicago Blackhawks ’82 born prospect Alexander Golovin are also putting in their time with the junior farm team despite their experience in the Avangard’s system. | | 12/10/2003

| Talent Analysis: |
| Pushkarev is a typical sniper...a very good skater, with a high top speed and great acceleration...very aggressive on the ice and does not hesitate to crash the net...very competitive and doesn’t give up on a play...not an asset defensively, needs to work on this aspect of the game....possesses a good wrister with a quick release...needs to bulk up and improve his strength to supplement his aggressiveness with power and that will come with time.

| Back In Russia: |
| Or should we say back in Kazakhstan. Born in Ust Kamenogorsk, Pushkarev has been a product of that team’s famous hockey school, which is one of the last remaining oasis of hockey in that country. The 2002-03 season has been his breakthrough year on the international arena. He competed on Kazakhstan’s both U20 and U18 WJC squads and was at the top of the scoring charts at the U18 tournament with nine goals. Next year, Pushkarev will likely sign with a Super League team and move away from Kazakhstan to Russia, as has happened with almost a dozen other talented Ust Kamenogorsk players. |
| NHL Outlook: |
| Konstantin Pushkarev is eligible for the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. His performance at the U18 WJC has definitely made him noticeable to the NHL scouts. He is the dark horse of the draft and will likely be picked on the first day of the draft. A couple of NHL teams are seriously considering selecting this player in the second round, though time can only tell how it will turn out for this talented winger.
