| Lisin and Kulyash among 5 Russians cut from the World Championships squad
Sr. World Championships - Enver Lisin (New York Rangers) was one of the 5 players cut from the World Championships. It is unclear for the the motives, since he performed wel for Russia, despite few points. At times Lisin was one of the more noticeable players on the ice, driving towards the net and creating a lot of offense for the Russian squad. The other players cut was the Russia "czar cannon" Denis Kulyash (Nashville Predators) who has had a nother sub-par season in Russia, former NHLer Oleg Saprykin (Ottawa Senators), and Evgeny Ryasensky and youngster Vladimir Tarasenko. | | 07/20/2009
| Enver Lisin traded to the New York Rangers
National Hockey League (NHL) - Enver Lisin (New York Rangers) has been traded from the Phoenix Coyotes to the New York Rangers in exchange with Finnish forward Lauri Korpikoski. Lisin, who scored 13 goals and 21 points in 48 games with the 'Yotes this season was qualified after his contract expired on June 30th. He threated to leave to Russia (he had an offer from Atlant) if the team wouldn't trade him as he had some conflicts with the Phoenix coaching staff. It's now an important season for the talented forward as he has to prove that he is NHL material. | | 07/05/2009
| Enver Lisin (Phoenix Coyotes) qualified, won't be an UFA
National Hockey League (NHL) - On July 1st Enver Lisin (Phoenix Coyotes) offered a qualifying offer, thus allowing the Yotes to hold the rights on him. It's still not clear where the forward, who scored 21 points in 48 games, will play in the 2009-10 season. KHL's Atlant Mytischi is reported to have offered him a 2-year deal, but in spite of that most likely he'll continue his career in the NHL. Also Alexander Nikulin (Phoenix Coyotes) got a qualifying offer. Let's remember that the center signed for CSKA Moscow about one month ago. | | 11/03/2008
| Alexander Nikulin (Ottawa Senators) gets his wish and one more NHL chance with the Coyotes
Continental Hockey League (KHL) - The Ottawa Senators finally found a trading partner for Alexander Nikulin (Ottawa Senators), sending the young talented center to the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for defenseman Drew Fatta. Interestingly the Coyotes, like the Senators have been one of the last teams tending to draft Russian born players. The deal also appears to be at least in part the work of Nikulin's agents, who have strong relationships with the Coyotes and also represent the NHL club's Enver Lisin (Phoenix Coyotes) and used to represent another Phoenix drafted skated Dmitri Pestunov (Phoenix Coyotes) (who was likely drafted as high as he was because of this relationship between the Gretzky camp and at the time IMG agency). This largely represents a new beginning for Nikulin, who will hopefully be able to crack the lineup and skate along side Viktor Tikhonov (Phoenix Coyotes) and possibly Enver Lisin (Phoenix Coyotes), who is currently on an assignment to the AHL. | | 03/21/2008
| Enver Lisin (Phoenix Coyotes) gains confidence with time
Young players from foreign countries, especially those who do not speak English or have little knowledge of the American culture, can have a difficult time adjusting to the NHL. Coyotes rookie right wing Enver Lisin (Phoenix Coyotes) faced a tough transition last year, and he decided to return to Russia instead of reporting to San Antonio of the American Hockey League. Now 21 and more grounded, Lisin is beginning to hone his skill on the ice, and he says he's playing with more confidence. (The Arizona Republic article by Jim Gintonio)

Rookie right wing Enver Lisin (Phoenix Coyotes) skated with Radim Vrbata and center Steven Reinprecht on Friday, and he'll be in the lineup today. He brings an element of speed to the team. "We're not producing a lot offensively," Gretzky said. "We're getting one goal, two goals a game. Maybe he'll spark us with some energy and speed. He's a big strong kid, and maybe that will allow us to get some goals." (The Arizona Republic - By Jim Gintonio)

| Leonid Weisfield: It’s time for Enver Lisin (Phoenix Coyotes) to decide
Russian Super League - In an interview with publication Sport Day After Day correspondent Regina Sevostyanova, HC Khimik’s president Leonid Weisfield had the following to say regarding the situation with Enver Lisin (Phoenix Coyotes): He is thinking, and I keep telling him – Make up your mind, because there will not be any new factors in this business. The draft and the trades have already passed, so there is really nothing left to wait for. The situation is as such: there are a number of factors that weight in for him to leave, and just as many for him to stay. I believe that he needs to spend another year here, but it’s a very a personal decision. | | 07/15/2007
| Enver Lisin (Phoenix Coyotes) may return to the NHL
Russian Super League - As the summer continues, a number of Russian players have signed agreements in the NHL and have committed to crossing the ocean and attending their respective training camps. Uncertainty still looms around Enver Lisin (Phoenix Coyotes), who has not yet fully committed to returning to North America for next season, even though the Phoenix Coyotes management fully expects him to do so. Championat publication correspondent Regina Sevostyanova caught up with Enver while he was practicing with HC Khimik in Mytische, Russia. READ MORE | | 07/08/2007

Some such as Avangard Omsk and Metallurg Magnitogorsk have strived to stay on the same trek. Others, such as the league's favorite Ak Bars Kazan that is known for the high flying Morozov - Zinovjev - Zaripov line, coped with some significant changes. Russian Super League - Vadim Khomitski and Alexei Kaigorodov, who recently returned from overseas are expected to be joined by Enver Lisin who, after posting an overly disappointing -17 rating and just 2 points in 16 games, is reportedly on his way back to Ak Bars, the team he once left to play for the Phoenix Coyotes. However, his future still remains a mystery after Lisin appeared in a few games for Phoenix while already being awaited in Kazan. READ MORE | | 01/31/2007

Enver Lisin (Phoenix Coyotes) collected his fourth goal since returning to Russia. He has consistently skated on the last line, but has gotten significant ice time and has also played more often on the power play unit. Ivan Kasutin (undrafted) continued to play strongly in net for HC CSKA, though still collecting a loss despite stopping 29 of 32 faced shots. READ MORE | | 11/29/2006
| Phoenix Coyotes suspend Enver Lisin
Russian Super League - Phoenix Coyotes suspended Enver Lisin today for failing to report to his AHL assignment with the San Antonio Rampage. The young forward started the season with the Rampage before being called up to Phoenix due to the club suffering a rash of injuries. Since then he spent 17 games with the NHL club, recording a goal and an assist. Still, the young forward was surprisingly reported by Russia’s HC Ak Bars during the early November transfer period. Apparently the young forward made this decision due to the impending return to Phoenix of several injured players, which would mean a demotion for Lisin. Thus, due to a lack of an agreement between the NHL and the Russian Hockey Federation, the Coyotes have little chance of preventing the young forward from playing for Ak Bars, where he is likely to fetch a salary equivalent to the NHL’s entry contract he received from the Phoenix based club. | | 06/20/2006

Russian Super League - Additional details have come to bare regarding Enver Lisin’s potential joining of the Phoenix Coyotes. Lisin’s agent Genadi Ushakov had the following to say regarding the situation to Sport Express correspondent Alexander Shapiro: | | 06/03/2006
| Enver Lisin signs with the Phoenix Coyotes
Russian Super League - Enver Lisin signed a three year entry level contract with the Phoenix Coyotes. The young forward has spent the last two seasons skating for Ak Bars (Kazan) in the Russian Super League, establishing himself as one of the league’s top young talents. The quick forward was drafted by Phoenix in the second round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, which in a lot of ways was a steal of a pick when considering his projection of being a sure first round selection. Now, the main remaining road block between Lisin and Phoenix is the lack of an agreement between the NHL and the Russian hockey governing body, meaning that the NHL club will have to negotiate the player’s transfer directly with Ak Bars. | | 04/12/2006
| Finals: Amazing Nikulin leads Kazan - scores 3rd in 3 games!
Russian Super League - Enver Lisin (Phoenix Coyotes) put Kazan ahead 2:1 in the first minutes of the second period with a great wrist shot, catching Norm Maracle by surprise from behind an Avangard defenseman. Atlanta Thrashers defensive prospect Ilya Nikulin broke Avangard’s back with Kazan’s third goal. With an Avangard player on him, Nikulin skated into a lane and put a slap shot right on target. Curiously this was Ilya Nikulin’s third goal in as many playoff games (!), with the last two coming in the latter two contests of the semifinals.

| Round 27 Game Notes
Russian Super League - SEVERSTAL (Cherepovets) – METALLURG (Magnitogorsk) – 3:3 (1:1,
0:1, 2:1, 0:0).
Yuri Dobryshkin (Atlanta Thrashers) potted a couple of goals for Severstal.
He scored the first one by converting with a precise wrist shot on a defensive
error of a former Washington Capitals prospect Alexei Tezikov.
MOLOT-PRIKAMYE (Perm) — SALAVAT YULAYEV (Ufa) — 0:1 (0:0,
0:0, 0:1).
Igor Grigorenko (Detroit Red Wings) skated in his first game for Salavat
Yulayev (Ufa) after being loaned to the Super League club by Lada (Togliatti).
Former Pittsburgh Penguins 2nd round pick Alexander Zevakhin
was another new addition to Salavat’s roster.
NEFTKHIMIK (Nizhnekamsk) – SPARTAK (Moscow) – 0:2 (0:0,
0:1, 0:1).
Spartak’s new top line Shalamai – Fedorov
(Vancouver Canucks) – Koltsov (Pittsburgh Pengiuns) looked
very strong in its first game. The line didn’t move mountains, but the
did account for both of Spartak’s goals. On the first goal, Fedor Fedorov
won the face off and passed the puck to Korsunov (Anaheim Mighty
Ducks), who scored with a slap shot from the blue line. Towards the end of the
game, Fedorov himself scored the first Super League goal of his career.
CSKA (Moscow) – LADA (Togliatti) – 2:0 (0:0, 0:0, 2:0).
Maxim Kondratiev (New York Rangers) skated in his first game for Lada
since returning back from Hartford. The young blue liner impressed with his
“Robocop” looking blue visor. Lada’s head coach was happy
with his performance. From what may have been leftovers of playing in the AHL,
Kondratiev was a physical force on the ice, hitting everything that moved. Alexander
Nikulin (Ottawa Senators) looked great centering CSKA’s second
line. The young center assisted on both CSKA goals.
AK BARS (Kazan) – LOKOMOTIV (Yaroslavl) – 2:1 (0:0, 1:0,
1:1).
Enver Lisin (Phoenix Coyotes) didn’t get much more than 7 minutes
of ice time during the game. This is largely because he is satisfying the two
U20 player requirement for Ak Bars. Unlike Lisin, however, Kazan’s other
“requirement” player Andrei Pervyshin (St. Louis)
skated in regular shifts all game long.

| Rumor Central - Enver Lisin (2004 NHL Entry Draft) may be on the move
Enver Lisin, one of Russia’s top 2004 NHL Entry Draft prospects, may be on his way out of Dynamo. His contract with the club has expired at the end of the 2003-04 season. Unconfirmed reports have surfaced that the young forward is being pursued by Ak Bars Kazan. At this point it is unclear whether he will end up with the wealthy Super League club. It may not be the best move for the forward, as the club has a strong veteran core and Lisin may simply not get the ice he needs to further his development. A couple of seasons ago a rumor surfaced that Nikolai Zherdev was on his way to Kazan, but after weeks of maneuvering the young forward ended up with CSKA Moscow. | | 04/03/2004

| Enver Lisin’s (2004 NHL Entry Draft) first professional playoff experience
In theory, after a successful stint on loan with Upper League’s Kristal Saratov, Enver Lisin (2004 NHL Entry Draft), should now be back with his Super League club Dynamo Moscow. However, the young forward had such an impact on Kristal’s success that the club’s renowned head coach, Genadi Tsygurov, asked Dynamo’s coach Belyaletdinov to leave the young forward in Saratov. Dynamo’s coach agreed to the coach’s request and while Lisin would’ve likely been warming the bench with Dynamo in the Super League post season, he was thrown right into the middle of things with Kristal Saratov.
Game 1 of the Upper League’s round of 16: Lisin had a great chance to convert on a breakaway, but skated away empty handed. Though Saratov ended up losing the game, the young forward remained active throughout the game, and adapted well to the more intense playoff hockey.
Game 2 of the Upper League’s round of 16: Lisin’s efforts were finally rewarded four minutes into the second period. Velikov made a nice pass to Eduard Gorbachev, who one timed the puck to Lisin, who in his turn put it behind Emelyanov with a precise redirect. Besides his one goal, Lisin’s speed continued to open up his linemates and forced the opposition to use their better defensemen against his line. Saratov ended up blanking Chelyabinsk 3:0.

Enver Lisin’s (2004 NHL Entry Draft) season is just getting better and better. The talented young forward has successfully recovered from a slump that dragged him down last season. He has also successfully elevated his game to the Upper League level in his first professional season of hockey, under the tutelage of the club’s well known head coach Gennadi Tsygurov. In the past six games Lisin’s ice has increased along with his confidence and he rewarded his coach by racking up five points (4G 1A), including one game winning goal. | | 02/12/2004

His first scoring chance came when the speedy winger got by two opponents on pure speed and then puckhandled around the third, ending up a few meters away from the net, but then did not release a very good shot. On another occasion, he was tripped on a clear breakaway, but no penalty was called. Several other times the young forward showed off his great speed and puckhandling, but was not able to put his name on the scoring board. | |

2004 NHL ENTRY DRAFT Rank 1: #3 Rank 2: #3 Rank 3: #3 Rank 4: #3 | | Talent Analysis: |
| (profile photograph is a RussianProspects.com's exclusive)Skating: An amazing skater...the fastest Russian skater and possibly
the fastest skater in the world born in ’86...excellent technique. Shot:
A very good finisher and has a great wrist shot...very precise and deceivingly
quick release...has very good control over his backhand. Technical Ability:
An average puck handler, does not excel in great puck control, who depends
more on his speed...uses the stick well in defensive situations. Pass:
Doesn’t pass the puck often, as he is more of a finisher than a
set up player...when he does pass, his passing ability is above average. Hockey
Sense: Sees the ice very well at both ends of the ice...developing into
a great two way player...a natural finisher, able to be at the right place at
the right moment. Defensive Play: Surprisingly responsible defensively...uses
his speed effectively to get back into the defensive zone...uses his stick work
effectively in the defensive zone. Physical Play: Grew an inch
in the spring and summer of ’03...not a physical player, depending on his
speed, but is durable and can handle pressure well in traffic...defensively delivers
the pressure at the boards, showing a good level of toughness and physical play.
Intangibles: Has a very good attitude and a solid work ethic...listens
well to authority... effective on his own, but needs a talented center to take
full advantage of his scoring ability and speed.

| Back In Russia: |
| Enver Lisin was born in Voskresensk and started to play hockey in the Khimik Vosskresensk hockey system. His family then moved to Moscow and he then joined the CSKA Moscow hockey system. After a couple of years there, he moved to the Soviet Wings school, which was closer to his house. When the time came to make the serious decision of determining the hockey school that would best develop the talented young forward, he selected Dynamo Moscow. He has spent the past three seasons in the Dynamo Moscow’s system. A talented
finisher, he has consistently been Dynamo ’86 team’s top scorer.
Curiously, Lisin appears to enjoy the attention of international competition
more then Russia’s junior leagues, and picks his game up an extra notch
when playing for the national team. During the summer of ’03, Lisin has
reportedly been scouted by Dynamo Moscow’s president, who was impressed
with what he saw and may look to give the talented young forward a shot to at
least practice with Dynamo, if not see a little bit of ice time in the Super
League. On the ’86 national team, Lisin has played well, but his production
has suffered due to the quality of his line mates. During 2002-03 season, he
primarily skated on Russia’s second line with Alexander Plyuschev and
various forwards on the other wing. While Plyuschev is a marginal talent, the
lack of stability and the absence of a capable playmaking center have really
hurt Lisin’s ability to really shine.
2003 ’86 World Cup (August ’03) 7.0/10: Lisin
started the tournament Russia’s second line with Alexander Plyuschev at
center and Dmitri Dmitriev on the left wing. Dmitriev did not perform well and
was replaced by Sergei Shirokov after the first game. Alexander Plyuschev did
not play well at this tournament and was surprisingly irresponsible defensively,
forcing Lisin to play a more conservative style and repeatedly returning back
into the defensive zone to help his defensemen out. Plyuschev is also a somewhat
of a contradiction, as he plays center, but doesn’t often pass the puck..
Again, Lisin’s production suffered because he often to resort to individual
efforts, and his line mates weren’t in position to take advantaged of
a nice feed. Overall, Lisin was able to showcase his great skill level and potential,
but did not reach the expected levels of production, finishing with just two
points.
'86 5 Nations Tournament (Feb.'04) Grade B+: Lisin once again delivered a solid two-way performance, skating on his already-established line with center Alexander Plyuschev and left wing Sergei Shirokov. Lisin constantly returned on defense to back up his line’s defenders. On offense, he actually scored four goals at the tournament, though one of them was awarded to Plyuschev, even though the replay showed that the puck did not touch him. Lisin actually scored the goal, shooting the puck right off the faceoff he won. The young forward continued to showcase his amazing speed, scoring two of his three official goals on breakaways. Lisin interacted effectively with his linemates, trying to create some interesting combinations. By what the young forward has displayed in Russia’s secondary professional league, the Upper League, he is clearly capable of more, but still delivered a very impressive performance. |
| NHL Outlook: |
| Enver Lisin is a talented two way forward with a huge offensive upside and a
significant defensive upside. The young forward may also be the fastest forward
eligible for the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He is fully capable of developing into
a top line forward in the NHL. In Russia, Lisin is unlikely to get much ice
time in the Super League. His main opportunity to get significant exposure to
the NHL scouts will be at the international level. Please read the tournament
reviews to find more detail regarding his performance at each of the international
tournaments. While Lisin has a wealth of potential, he has had some trouble
with his production at the 2003 ’86 World Cup. He remains a first round
prospect, but may, as Polushin did a couple of years back, drop back into the
second round.
RP Draft Projection: late first round, possibly early second
round. Enver was drafted mid way through the second round by the Phoenix Coyotes. This was later than expected, but as 2004 was the start of the Cold War against Russian players, it was no surprise.
