The young player stuck in the lineup and was noticed by the NHL scouts and the Toronto Maple Leafs picked up this overage prospect late in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft with the 220th overall selection. Semenov has since moved on to HC Khimik, following Ladaâ€™s former president to his new club after the earlier ran into some financial troubles. There Semenov continued to establish himself as a reliable Super League caliber defenseman.
