16/04/2010 Prospects make Russian National Team

Sr. World Championships -  Many prospects made the roster for the two friendly matches Team Russia will play in Italy on April 23rd and 24th. Vasily Koshechkin (Tampa Bay Lightning), Anton Khudobin (Minnesota Wild) and Sergei Bobrovsky are the goalies, with Khudobin most likely as starter. On the blue line Dmitry Kulikov (Florida Panthers) will make his first appearence, and will be joined by Vitaly Atyushov, Konstantin Korneev (Montreal Canadiens), Denis Kulyash (Nashville Predators), Evgeny Biryukov, Denis Denisov (Buffalo Sabres), Dmitri Vorobiev (Toronto Maple Leafs), Evgeny Ryasensky and Nikolai Belov. The forwards corps will be led by NHLers Maxim Afinogenov (Buffalo Sabres), Evgeny Artyukhin (Atlanta Thrashers), Artem Anisimov (New York Rangers) and Nikolai Kulemin (Toronto Maple Leafs). First call for Vladimir Tarasenko and Nikita Filatov (Columbus Blue Jackets). Other players are Konstantin Gorovikov, Denis Parshin (Colorado Avalanche), Maxim Rybin , Evgeny Skachkov (St. Louis Blues), Anton Krysanov (Phoenix Coyotes), Mikhail Varnakov , Alexander Svitov (Columbus Blue Jackets) and Oleg Saprykin (Ottawa Senators).

Continental Hockey League (KHL) -  QUEBEC CITY (AP) Maxim Afinogenov (Buffalo Sabres) scored two goals, Alex Ovechkin added another and Alexei Morozov (Pittsburgh Penguins) had the winner in the shootout to give Russia a 4-3 victory over Belarus in a qualifying-round game at the world hockey championship Friday. Earlier Friday, Finland beat Latvia 2-1 at Halifax, Nova Scotia. Morozov beat goalie Vitaly Koval with a backhand in the shootout to keep Russia undefeated in the tournament. 05/06/2008 Web Site News: Canada edges U.S., Russia beats Denmark at hockey worlds

Continental Hockey League (KHL) -  Earlier in Quebec City, Washington Capitals teammates Alexander Ovechkin (Washington Capitals) and Sergei Fedorov each scored a goal, helping Russia defeat Denmark 4-1. Maxim Afinogenov (Buffalo Sabres) and Konstantin Gorovikov also scored for Russia and Ilya Kovalchuk (Atlanta Thrashers) of the Atlanta Thrashers had two assists in the game at Quebec City. Russia improved to 3-0 in the preliminary round. Kim Staal scored for Denmark (1-2). The Russians peppered Danish goaltender Patrick Galbraith with 43 shots.
