16/04/2010 Prospects make Russian National Team

Sr. World Championships -  Many prospects made the roster for the two friendly matches Team Russia will play in Italy on April 23rd and 24th. Vasily Koshechkin (Tampa Bay Lightning), Anton Khudobin (Minnesota Wild) and Sergei Bobrovsky are the goalies, with Khudobin most likely as starter. On the blue line Dmitry Kulikov (Florida Panthers) will make his first appearence, and will be joined by Vitaly Atyushov, Konstantin Korneev (Montreal Canadiens), Denis Kulyash (Nashville Predators), Evgeny Biryukov, Denis Denisov (Buffalo Sabres), Dmitri Vorobiev (Toronto Maple Leafs), Evgeny Ryasensky and Nikolai Belov. The forwards corps will be led by NHLers Maxim Afinogenov (Buffalo Sabres), Evgeny Artyukhin (Atlanta Thrashers), Artem Anisimov (New York Rangers) and Nikolai Kulemin (Toronto Maple Leafs). First call for Vladimir Tarasenko and Nikita Filatov (Columbus Blue Jackets). Other players are Konstantin Gorovikov, Denis Parshin (Colorado Avalanche), Maxim Rybin , Evgeny Skachkov (St. Louis Blues), Anton Krysanov (Phoenix Coyotes), Mikhail Varnakov , Alexander Svitov (Columbus Blue Jackets) and Oleg Saprykin (Ottawa Senators).
12/08/2009 Igor Makarov (Chicago Blackhawks) heads to one capital to the other - traded to HC CSKA

Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) -  Igor Makarov (Chicago Blackhawks) has been traded to HC CSKA for former NHL forward Oleg Saprykin (Ottawa Senators). Both players have fallen out of favour with their clubs, as Saprykin has not been “fulfilling the expectations as a team leader”, while Makarov has been edged out by veteran players acquired during the offseason by this high-budget club. Saprykin’s departure may also be due to the club’s significant changes that took place in the offseason with the departure of head coach Vyacheslav Bykov to HC Salavat Yulayev and CSKA being left with a depleted lineup and no ambitions for a strong season. It remains to be seen if the change of scenery will do either forward good, but it is likely that Makarov will get plenty of ice time with his new club.
