11/21/2009 Drummondville Voltigeurs in talks with Avangard Omsk’s Nikita Pivtsakin

Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) -  Russian player Nikita Pivtsakin might strengthen the Drummondville’s defense already after the Subway Superseries. This at least according to the Voltigeurs’ plans, who are trying to convince the 18 years old guy moving to Canada. Selected in the Import Draft’s first round (49th overall pick), by the Cap Breton Screaming Eagles, Pivtsaking didn’t show up in their pre season camp in Sidney. The Omsk, Russia, native defenseman instead deciding taking the first steps in his pro career in the KHL playing for Jaromir Jagr (New York Rangers)’s Avangard Omsk. 03/12/2009 Alexander Radulov (Nashville Predators)'s possible return

National Hockey League (NHL) -  22-year old Russian star Alexander Radulov (Nashville Predators) has wrapped up his season in the KHL after getting knocked out of the playoffs in the first round by Jaromir Jagr (New York Rangers)'s squad. He had 22G, 26A and 92 PIM in 52 regular season games (league leader Sergei Mozyakin (Columbus Blue Jackets) had 76 points) over there with 2G, 2A and 6 PIM in 6 GP in the playoffs. 03/05/2009 Salavat falls in KHL playoffs

Continental Hockey League (KHL) -  OMSK, Russia –- The first great upset in European playoff hockey is in the books. Reigning Russian champion and KHL regular season winner Salavat Yulayev Ufa failed to make it past the first playoff round. Salavat lost in four games to Avangard Omsk, which finished 51 points behind the Ufa club. The looming upset was complete on Thursday when Avangard defeated Salavat 4-1 at home to win the opening best-of-five playoff series, 3-1. Jaromir Jagr (New York Rangers)'s second goal of the series made it 4-1 at the beginning of the third period and was ultimately the back breaker for Salavat, which was the winner of the inaugural KHL regular season with 129 points.
