09/29/2007 Round 9: Shift-by-shift detailed scouting report on Alexei Cherepanov (New York Rangers)

Super League -  Russianprospects' in depth scouting returns back to the Magnitogorsk Arena, this time to follow the game of another highly touted prospect, first rounder wing Alexei Cherepanov (New York Rangers) (New York Rangers). The New York Rangers prospect is used by head coach Belousov on Avangard's second line on the right wing, with Anton Kuryanov at center and Alexander Popov at left wing. Alexei is back on ice after his concussion suffered during the second game of the Super Series and he is still yet to get his best shape. READ MORE
12/24/2006 Surprising omissions from Russia's U20 roster

U20 World Junior Championships -  With the team Russia roster announced, the surprising omission is goaltender Ilya Proskuryakov, who at some moments outplayed Varlamov during this season’s previous U20 tournaments. Forward Andrei Popov (Philadelphia Flyers), who was highly touted prior to last year’s draft and delivered a fairly strong performance thus far this season ins the Super League with HC Traktor (1 goal and 10 assists in 30 games), playing much better in the Super League than some of the players who made the team. The final surprising omission is that of CHL defenseman Ivan Vishnevsky (Dallas Stars), though his is more understandable as he is currently playing in North America and has not attended many international tournaments this or last season. Still, he would have provided Russia another valuable cannon from the blue line.
