Moscow – Konstantin Barulin (St. Louis Blues) will spend the next season with Vyacheslav Bykov’s CSKA Moscow, backing up former NHL netminder Jussi Markkanen (Edmonton Oilers). The 23 years old promising goalkeeper had a rocky 2007-08 season with HC Khimik (Mytische) as he was demoted to the High League (Russia 2) farm club after refusing to renew his contract with the Mytische team. As a result, he played only seven games for them this season.
Being now part of a serious project, Barulin will try hard to set with this transfer the turning point of a career that never lived up with its potential. To secure his services, CSKA gave to Atlant (new name for Khimik) the second pick in 2009 KHL draft.
