10/21/2009 10/19: Spartak beats Atlant 2-1

Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) -  In the October 19th’s match between Spartak Moscow and Atlant Mytischi the home team had the chance to interrupt their cold streak despite facing one of the Tarasov division’s favorites. Instead of the injured Dmitri Kochnev, the home team’s crease featured Evgeny Konobry, while for Atlant the former Ottawa Senator, Swiss Martin Gerber. Ilya Kablukov (Vancouver Canucks) assisted on the Game Winning Goal. (Exclusive russianprospects.com game report by Evgeny Belousov) READ MORE
07/22/2009 Ilya Kablubov returns to Moscow, to sign with HC Spartak

National Hockey League (NHL) -  Ilya Kablukov (Vancouver Canucks) is likely to return to Moscow, but not to his home team, CSKA. The young forward is about to sign a deal with another Moscow club HC Spartak. This will be a good chance for the young prospect to get additional ice time, since Spartak is known to be a strong place for young player development. Kablukov spent a sub-par season in the KHL with Torpedo, his first away from CSKA. Here he did get more responsibility, though struggled to follow up to his 2006-07 success with CSKA.
06/01/2008 Ilya Kablukov (Vancouver Canucks) to join in Nizhniy Novgorod

As reported by Torpedo’s official site, Vancouver Canucks prospect Ilya Kablukov (Vancouver Canucks) will spend the next season with KHL team Torpedo Nizhniy Novgorod. During the last season with CSKA Moscow, the young center has been respectively productive in his first full professional season with HC CSKA, earning seventeen points (5 goals and 12 assists) in fifty-six games, playing mostly on Bykov team’s third line with Sergei Shirokov (Vancouver Canucks) and Denis Parshin (Colorado Avalanche). He was also called to represent Russia in the World Junior Championship, but had some visa troubles that kept him off the team. Torpedo is having some success in the transfer market, having signed Alexei Kharitonov and Alexei Troschinsky from Dynamo Moscow, Aleksandr Boykov from Salavat Yulaev Ufa and Mikhail Tyulyapkin from Ak Bars Kazan. It is also rumoured that Artem Chubarov (Vancouver Canucks) may also join the team soon.

Draft Rankings and Comments:
2006 NHL ENTRY DRAFT
Rank 1: #27
Rank 2: #42
Rank 3: #23 Ranking Comments:Kablukov mostly played well at the U18 WJC, but his lack of production at the tournament is a significant concern. 0 goals and 0 assists, despite his defensive role, is a poor result by any standards. Kablukov does work hard and is capable of making a nice feed, though he does need to improve his puckhandling skills. Some of the lack of Kablukov's success could be attributed to him primarily working ont he same line with Vladimir Zharkov, who did not have a very good U18 WJC tournament.
Talent Analysis:
Scout 1: A decent skater for a big man .. possesses adequate acceleration .. solid balance .. explosiveness and agility still needs upgrading .. adequate top-end speed .. decent stickhandling skills but could make more nifty dekes when challenging an opponent in one-on-one .. a playmaking forward who always looks for a passing opportunity .. boasts a decent vision .. possesses decent smarts and a precise timing of his passes ..can use his linemates well, but should fire the puck more often .. performs on both powerplay and penalty killing units .. solid defensive awareness .. can block the passing lanes of the opposition .. a diligent player who is willing to battle for the loose pucks .. plays with adequate toughness, but his mean streak tends to be inconsistent .. looks unprepared for physical contact on some shifts .. should crash the net with more determination .. an average force in the face-off circle.
Scout 2: a quick skater...has a good work ethic and works hard everywhere on the ice...a team player...doesn’t stand out in any particular area, but is a very useful player for his team...defensively oriented center...capable of making some impressive passes...needs to improve his puckhandling ability...doesn’t have a very significant offensive upside...physically tall, but has not yet filled in his frame.
Back In Russia:
Ilya Kablubov was born in Moscow and is the product of the CSKA Red Army hockey system. The young forward has been a member of the 88 born Team Russia since the 2004-05 season. He skated in every U18 tournament for Russia this season, including the U18 World Junior Championships.
NHL Outlook:
Ilya Kablukov is eligible for the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. While with some offensive upside, Kablukov is primarily a defensive specialist and a third line checking forward. A lot of his offensive success depends on his linemates. The young forward put together a solid showing at the U18 WJC, with the exception of scoring production. He did not register a single point and his inability to produce offensive definitely hurt his stock potential. The young forward is a potential late round selection.
