Draft Rankings and Comments:
2009 NHL ENTRY DRAFT
Rank 1: #7
Rank 2: #13 Ranking Comments:excellent stickhandler with a quick skating ability, he is the kind of player that requires to play against better opponents because skating mainly in the weaker Russian Junior Leagues (1st league) has negatively influence his development, making him into a player who rarely passes the puck. Thus, to become more dangerous on the ice, he needs to involve his line mates more during his shifts. He played very well in the World Junior A Challenge in Camrose, but had a minor impact in last year’s U18 Five nations tournaments.
Talent Analysis:
Scout report: a talented winger who likes to play the puck…quick skater, but has to improve his stability...he’s not small in size, but not big either, has to build up…excellent technique and stickhandling…should pass the puck more and involve more his line mates…kind of mono dimensional player, has to learn to take defensive awareness, but this will improve playing with men…a skilled forward, a kind of high risk – high reward player so far, but has potential…
Back In Russia:
Stanislav Bocharov is one of the players native of Khabarovsk who moved west to play hockey and the moved paid off as now some of them are going far in the hockey world. He plays now in Ak Bars Kazan junior system and skates mainly for the junior farm team in Russian third tier league. He did skate in one KHL game, but he didn’t last as he really didn’t impress. With the national team jersey he participated in a number of tournament with Team Russia-91 often posting good stats, like in the last World Junior A Challenge in Camrose, Canada, where he scored five goals in four matches.
NHL Outlook:
As far as now it’s hard to predict Bocharov’s future as he had only a little stint with pro players, but now already it seems that he is the kind of player who can either turn on a star or just sit back in Russia as a regular KHLer. He has to work on his size and on his defensive play, but more urgently he needs experience and game practice.
