Talent Analysis:
Size and Physical Play: Denis Loginov has a solid frame and is well developed physically. He does not tend to lay down hits, but plays an aggressive brand of hockey, preferring to break through defense with his body instead of moving around them. Skating: Loginov possesses good form, but only a slightly above average top speed. He can reach higher speeds on a straightaway, but when it comes to maneuvering, his top speed is reduced. Shot: The young forward hardly ever shoots the puck, preferring to pass most of the time. He does have a wrist shot in his arsenal, though it’s nothing that will blow the goalie away. One thing to note is that Loginov tries to shoot the puck while on the move, which could develop into a great weapon for the young player. Pass: Loginov is a passing forward, looking to set up his line mates and develop plays. Though not really creative, he sees the ice well and usually directs the passes where they need to go. However, he varies the strength of the pass well, but has not yet refined the precisions, as his passes tend, at times, to overshoot or lend behind the intended target. Skill: Loginov has average puck handling and stick handling ability. He can raise his game a bit above that, but then he tends to put his head down and look at the puck, which would be unforgivable at any level above junior and would surely get his bell rung by some defenseman. Overall: Loginov is a raw prospect with a lot of good skills. He shows flashes of potential and may develop into a diamond in a rough. However, thus far, the young forward’s upside is slightly above average and his development needs are also significant.
Back In Russia:
| Born in Kazan, Denis Loginov has been raised in Ak Bras Kazan’s development system. The young forward has yet to make his debut on the Super League club, and with the elimination of the requirement to field two U18 players on the roster, he may have to wait a little longer. He has made his debut on Russia’s U18 squad and performed well enough to merit an invitation to the 2003 U18 World Junior Championships in Yaroslavl, Russia. Loginov skated on the fourth line, though, despite the limited ice time, he impressed with his aggressiveness and skill.

NHL Outlook:
Denis Loginov was eligible for the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. His stock rose significantly after the 2003 U18 WJC, and accordingly the young forward was drafted by an NHL club. The Atlanta Thrashers picked Loginov with their 6th round pick, 203rd overall. A prospect with size and skill, the talented forward has the potential to develop into a third line forward in the NHL. The main question right now, is how high is Loginov’s upside. He may be competing well against his peers, but a lot will depend on how he handles his next promotion, probably to the Super League club.
