In a recent interview, Spartak Moscow's head coach Shepelev informed the media that he expected Evgeni Muratov (Edmonton Oilers) to join his club in the coming days. Spartak Moscow ascended to the Super League (Russia 1) from the High League (Russia 2) this past summer after a season absence and has been restocking its lineup with Super League additional Super League caliber talent.
Evgeni Muratov (Edmonton Oilers) has been released by Severstal Cherpovets Super League (Russia 1) club. The young forward spent the last season with another Russian Super League (Russia 1) club, Neftkhimik Nizhnekamsk. He was sidelined for a large part of the season with a knee injury, but returned into the lineup towards the end of the season. The young forward was widely expected to make the club's roster and his release was a surprise.
Forward Evgenii Muratov (Edmonton Oilers) suffered and undisclosed injury during practice. The young forward has spent the 2003-04 season with Nizhnekamsk's Neftkhimik, scoring one goal and assisting on six others in 20 games.
