| KHL update: Avtsin injured, prospects score first KHL goal
Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) - The second KHL season is undergoing and prospects get their share of attention. Unfortunately it's not a good news the one we report about Dynamo Moscow's Alexander Avtsin (Montreal Canadiens): during a regular season match he suffered from a hand injury and will have to sit for two months. His place in the lineup has been taken by one of MHL top scorers, Nikita Dvurechensky, who took only two games to score his first KHL goal today in the 4-6 home defeat of Dynamo against the other Dinamo from Riga.
But Dvurechensky hasn't been the only one prospect to score the first KHL goal: 2010 eligible Evgeny Kuznetsov scored the game winner in Tratkor's win in Togliatti against Lada with a smooth backhander one-on-one against the goalie. Kuznetsov might be chosen in next Draft's first round. | | 12/12/2009

| Alexander Avtsin (Montreal Canadiens) on Ovechkin's track
National Hockey League (NHL) - Considering the situation with the Russian Kontinental Hockey League, NHL teams lately took a more cautious approach towards drafting European players. But in the 4th round the Canadiens have been tempted by Alexander Avtsin (Montreal Canadiens) (Montreal Canadiens).
A fairly sized 6-foot-2 player, Avtsin literally tored up the Russian junior league in the last season. Despite his young age he recorded excellent stats like 56 goals and 54 assists.(rds.ca article by Jonathan Bernier translated by Alessandro Seren Rosso) READ MORE | | 07/06/2009

| Post Draft - Alexander Avtsin (Montreal Canadiens): I'll go to America in one year
National Hockey League (NHL) - After being picked in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Alexander Avtsin (Montreal Canadiens) had a quick interview with sportbox.ru, Russian television website. What follows is the translation of his brief statements.
I try to play with power methods, rapidly and rigidly. I don't hold myself. I really want to be like Ovechkin. So far my biggest problem is play without the puck, I have to work on that. I was picked by a strong team with a rich tradition. It's a good thing that on Montreal there are other Russians. This will accelerate my adaptation process once I'll move to North America. I plan doing that in one year. | | 06/27/2009

| Top 10 Russia prospects for 2009
National Hockey League (NHL) - The 2009 Russian draft class doesn't look as good as the last one, which produced Nikita Filatov (Columbus Blue Jackets), Evgeny Grachev, Dmitri Kugryshev and Memorial Cup champion Andrei Loktionov (Los Angeles Kings). At the last U18 World Championships, Russia earned a silver medal mostly thanks to the contribution of the 2010s like Kirill Kabanov and Vladimir Tarasenko. But because of Russia's depth, there are some good talents available in two weeks in Montreal, including some overage ones overlooked in the last drafts who somewhat raised their stock recently.
Hockeysfuture's top 10 at a glance:
1. Dmitri Orlov, D, Metallurg Novokuznetsk
2. Maxim Chudinov, D, Severstal Cherepovets
