10/31/2010 Maxim Kitsyn (Los Angeles Kings) scores first career hat-trick

18 years old Maxim Kitsyn (Los Angeles Kings) has been enjoying limited success this season, but things might be changing as Saturday he has been promoted to the first line and repaid the coach's trust scoring a natural hat-trick in the 3-0 Metallurg Novokuznetsk win over Atlant. Kitsyn scored his first goal during a powerplay, one timing in a shot deflected by the opposition defensemen. During the second period he made the game 2-0 with a nice backhand-to-forehand move and in the third stanza he finished a breakaway with a great wrist shot from the high slot. Now Maxim Kitsyn (Los Angeles Kings) and his team mate Zakhar Arzamastsev are going to move to Canada to skate in the annual Subway Super Series against selections of the different CHL teams.
04/18/2010 Team Russia to face Switzerland in the quarterfinals

U18 World Junior Championships -  Team Russia finished the round robin at the second place and that means that they will have to face Team Switzerland in the quarterfinals, just the same opponent as the WJC fiasco earlier this season. Team Russia defeated Slovakia, Czech Republic and Latvia and lost only to Finland. The team's top scorer so far has been the captain Evgeny Kuznetsov . The 2010 eligible scored four goals and four assists in as many games. The same amount of points has been scored by Sergei Barbashev , who amassed two goals and six assists. Sergei Kostenko has been solid on net, and 94-born Andrei Vasilievski played very well too. Team's top goalscorer has been Vladislav Namestnikov , while team's top scoring defensemen were Efim Gurkin and Zakhar Arzamastsev , with three points each. The game against Switzeland will be played on Tuesday, the winner will face Team Sweden on Wednesday.
