12/26/2011 Skillful Russians blank Swiss in WJC debut

U20 World Junior Championships -  CALGARY – There’s no Nureyev or Baryshnikov on the roster, but this year’s Russian World Junior team sure can dance. Russia opened its defence of its world title on Boxing Day, beating Switzerland 3-0 with three beautiful goals.
Alexander Khokhlachev, Nikita Gusev, and Mikhail Grigorenko scored for Russia, which features just one returning player from 2011: captain Evgeny Kuznetsov (Washington Capitals). The talent level on the 2012 edition, however, may be even higher. (IIHF.com article by Lukas Aykroyd) READ MORE
02/15/2010 Russia-92 triumphs in U18 tournament

U18 Six Nations Tournament -  Staying perfect with five wins in as many games, Team Russia won the 2010 U18 Six Nations tournament in Minsk, Belarus. They beaten not only the hosts, but also USA, Sweden, Finland and Czech Republic. On top of that Evgeny Kuznetsov has been named tournament's MVP, thanks to his six goals and nine points. Sergei Kostenko was the tournament's top goalie. Very good performances came also from Vladislav Namestnikov and Nikita Gusev among forwards and Viktor Antipin and Alexei Marchenko among blue liners. U18 World Junior A Challenge -  We posted stats for the WJAC tournament that has been played in Summerside, Canada, during November's first week. The team's top scorer has been 93-born Nail Yakupov, with Nikita Gusev and Sergei Barbashev following. Alexei Marchenko and Ivan Gavrilenko resulted the top scoring defesemen.
