12/21/2008 Russia edges Finland, Czech Republic wins over Sweden

Team Russia proves that jazz could be no worse than rock'n'roll with a smooth victory over the Finnish side 4:1. Danis Zaripov scored twice and the latest addition to the roster Vitali Proshkin picked up two points to help the hosts overwhelm visiting Team Finland in the third period. Despite the 20th win in a row all competitions included, the Russians started rather sloppy especially in the defensive end. The Finns, who didn't line up for this game neither Esa Pirnes, nor any other huge stars that perform in the KHL, looked much more organized and had their share of shots on Eremenko's net in the first period. 12/20/2008 Hockey fans hope for homegrown heroics

Russia's hockey heroes are back on home ice as Moscow hosts the second leg of the Euro Tour this weekend. Vyacheslav Bykov's world champions face off against Sweden, Finland and the Czech Republic at the Megasport Arena at Khodynka Pole. Saturday sees the home side take on the Czech Republic at 2pm, followed by the Nordic derby en­counter at 6pm. On Sunday Russia faces Sweden in the afternoon while the Czechs and Finns wrap things up in the evening, followed by the presentation of the ‘First Channel Cup'.
