11/15/2010 Khokhlachev gets the snub

Russian centre Alexander Khokhlachev has made a case to represent his country. "The word I got, through the grapevine, is they were disappointed he came to play in Canada," Spitfires general manager Warren Rychel said of a possible reason Khokhlachev wasn't invited to play. The Russian club has added seven players from Canadian Hockey Lea-gue clubs to play in the series including five from the OHL and only one boasts better numbers than Khokhlachev. In Game 3 of the six game series in Sudbury, Team OHL beat Team Russia 2-1 in a shootout. (The Windsor Star article by Jim Parker) READ MORE
11/12/2010 Bobkov stands tall in loss

If Igor Bobkov (Anaheim Mighty Ducks) makes the Russian world junior team again, his London Knights mask is travelling with him. "No Russia mask," the 19-year-old said with a grin. "The London one is the only one." And right now, the Derrick Gilders-crafted headgear with the big green 'Bob' painted across the chin is in a lot better shape to make the Buffalo trip. In his best performance to date on John Labatt Centre ice, Bobkov kicked aside 46 shots in a 4-0 loss to the mighty OHL team full of Canadian world junior hopeful before 3,292 in Game 3 of the Subway Super Series Thursday.
